Recycle Something New: Solid Waste To Offer Electronics Recycling At Seven Centers

Marion County Solid Waste to offer electronics recycling at seven centers

Aluminum cans? Check. Newspapers? Check. Yard waste? Check. You can recycle a lot of items at Marion County Solid Waste recycling centers, and now you can add household electronics to that list.

Previously, residents recycled their electronics at one of the periodic special events Marion County Solid Waste held throughout the year. Now, seven recycling centers located throughout the county offer that opportunity each day the centers are open. These centers include:

Baseline Recycling Center, 5601 SE 66th St., Ocala.
Dunnellon Recycling Center, 4232 S. U.S. Highway 41, Dunnellon.
Forest Corner Recycling Center, 950 S. Highway 314A, Ocklawaha.
Fort McCoy Recycling Center, 12195 E. Highway 316, Fort McCoy.
Martel Recycling Center, 296 SW 67th Ave. Road, Ocala.
Newton Recycling Center, 1750 NW 100th St., Ocala.
Weirsdale Recycling Center, 13535 SE 164th St., Weirsdale.

Items accepted at the event include: Televisions and remote controls; computers, monitors and keyboards; digital clocks; cell phones and chargers; stereos, CD players, radios, tape recorders and personal music devices; telephones and answering machines; and scanners, fax machines and printers.

Marion County Solid Waste recycling centers are open to residents of unincorporated Marion County who pay the annual solid waste assessment fee. Residents who live outside the county or within municipalities can access the centers with purchase of a recycling center permit. Permits cost $100 and are good for an entire year. City of Ocala residents are able to recycle electronics at Marion County recycling centers, but must purchase a permit to use the other services offered at the centers. Business owners interested in recycling should contact Solid Waste for commercial recycling options; commercial recycling is not accepted at recycling centers.
