Fire in TNCSC godown

A major disasters averted when staff of the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies godown on the Thanjavur Road here noticed fire in a section, took steps to douse the fire before the Fire and Rescue Services personnel joined them to completely put out the danger on Monday. It is said the staff noticed the fire in a section where rice bags meant for despatch to various public distribution system ration shops were stocked. The staff attribute the fire to accidental ignition of the chemical substances, including pesticides and insecticides meant for destroying rodents that could eat away the foodgrains.

The Fire and Rescue Services brigade rushed in and doused the fire but not before 50 bags of rice were damaged.
