Anusha Devi could not believe it when she received the Bhawanian Award at her school’s prizegiving yesterday.

This was at the Bhawani Dayal Arya College’s Year 11, 12 and 13 annual prizegiving at the school in Nakasi yesterday.

Year 12 student Anusha said: “I never expected to win the Bhawanian Award because this award is normally given to Year 13 students.

“Despite this, I am very happy to receive this award,” she said.

Anusha explained that the Bhawanian Award was a very important prize at Bhawani Dayal Arya College.

Anusha also received awards for scoring 85-plus in Mathematics, Physics and Biology. She was also named the Year 12 dux, and given the first place award for participating in the Fiji Mathematics Competition.

Anusha said her parents were really supportive towards her education.

“My parents encourage me every day so that I could become a better person,” she said.

Her proud mother, Sangeeta Devi, said she was happy with her daughter’s achievements.

“Anusha is a very hard-working student and spends most of her time studying,” she said.
