Ramachandra Group under tax department’s scanner

The Income Tax department on Monday conducted surprise searches at institutions of the Sri Ramachandra Group. The group runs a hospital and medical colleges (dental, pharmacy, nursing, biomedical science, technology and research). The reason for the raids was not known but Income Tax officials said that they can give a clear picture only on Tuesday.

A senior official in the Income Tax – Investigation Wing, told The Hindu , “The searches are on and we have just started the investigation. We are searching all the places belonging to the group.” He did not want to divulge further details. Officials of the group could not be reached for comments.
