Festive spirit grips Satya Sai Baba abode

The golden chariot procession was taken up from Yajur Mandir

Anantapur: Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan stressed the need to follow morals and the right path showed by Sri Satya Sai Baba of Love, Peace and service to humanity. “Baba implemented many service activities for the poor. Why don't we follow him and involve ourselves in service,” Mr Narasimhan said, referring to Vidya Vahini project, drinking water projects to many villages including Chennai.

The Governor was the chief guest at the 90th birth anniversary of Sri Satya Sai Baba held at Satya Sai Hillview stadium in Prashanti Nilayam on Monday. As part of the grand celebrations, Sri Satya Sai Baba portrait enthroned with the epochal Swarna Ratham was accorded a grand ceremonial welcome, with a huge convoy of tableaux escorting the Golden Chariot.

The contingent included Vedam, cultural segments, university bands, flag-bearing squad. The golden chariot procession was taken up from Yajur Mandir towards Satya Sai Hill View stadium.

Addressing at mammoth gathering, Governor Narasimhan observed, "Appearance and disappearance are for us mortals. Swami is Eternal. Today, we are meeting here to rededicate ourselves to follow the path set by Sri Satya Sai Baba himself of love, compassion and service,"

Recollecting his enlightening experiences with Baba since 45 years, the Governor recollected Sai Baba's words of assurance given to him in person that he will never do any wrong at any time in his life. As a bureaucrat he carries this message throughout, the speaker added. "So what I am doing is obviously the divine order and I am carrying out my responsibilities."

Suzuki Company chairman Suzuki, IT minister Palle Raghunath Reddy, former chief justice of Supreme Court M. Venkatachalaiah and others participated in the celebrations.
