The 49ers lost to the Seahawks on Sunday and they lost a member of their defensive line for the rest of the season.

The team announced Monday that defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey tore his ACL when he hurt his knee on the Seahawks’ first offensive play of the game. Dorsey’s right knee buckled as he tried to stop Seahawks running back Thomas Rawls and he was carted off the field a short time later.

First-round pick Arik Armstead took over for Dorsey on Sunday and will likely continue to see increased playing time over the final six weeks of the year.

Dorsey played in all 10 games for the 49ers this season and made seven starts overall. He’s been with the team for three years, although he didn’t play at all in the 2014 regular season due to a torn biceps.

The 49ers said that Dorsey’s surgery is pending. He’s signed for next season with a $1.8 million base salary.
