Butter coffee. Soylent. Adderall. It's clear at this point that the technological soothsayers of Silicon Valley are willing to cram all sorts of stuff down their pie holes in the name of ULTIMATE PRODUCTIVITY. And now, apparently, the Valley's denizens are beginning to experiment with an old friend: LSD. According to a story in this month's Rolling Stone, a few "übersmart twentysomething[s]" in San Francisco are taking "microdoses" of LSD, or about a tenth of a normal amount, as a "healthy alternative to Adderall." The concept was popularized by psychologist and writer James Fadiman when he spoke about it during a 2011 conference.

"For best results, Fadiman recommends microdosing every fourth day, taking the drug in the morning and then sticking to your usual daily routine. His correspondents have told him regular microdosing has alleviated a bevy of disorders, including depression, migraines and chronic-fatigue syndrome, while increasing outside-the-box thinking. "Microdosing has helped me come up with some new designs to explore and new ways of thinking," Ken says. "You would be surprised at how many people are actually doing it. It's crazy awesome."
