Libman Education Adds An Online CCS Exam Review Option To Prepare Coders For The New ICD-10 CCS Exam

CCS Exam Preparation Offerings Include: Mock Exam, Online Exam Review, and Intensive Instructor-led Preparation

Libman Education, the leading provider of training for AHIMA’s Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credential exam, has expanded its suite of ICD-10-based CCS Exam preparation courses to include a third option: the online CCS Exam Review. The online, self-paced CCS Exam Review joins Libman Education’s training options including the CCS Mock Exam and the intensive 13-week instructor-led CCS Exam Prep. The CCS Exam Review was developed in response to coder demands for a comprehensive review course that meets individual needs and learning styles.

“Those ready to prepare for this mastery level coding credential have different training needs,” said Pamela J. Haney, Director of Training and Education for Libman Education. “Some simply need to take a practice exam, along with perhaps a personal coaching session. Others need more than this – an online, self-paced course with thorough coverage of the exam material.

“However,” she added, “given the intensive nature of the exam, still many others require the 13- week intensive instructor-led course. There’s something for everyone; the training needs for anyone ready to prepare for the exam can be met.”

With AHIMA posting over 50% unsuccessful pass rates on first attempts, Libman Education’s CCS exam preparation options recognize that one-size does not fit all. The addition of the online option is in response to the growing demand for a CCS exam preparation that meets the need of a large number of candidates with different work experience, skill sets, and learning styles from those previously sitting for the exam. By providing courses that better determine knowledge gaps and replicate the exam experience, candidates can select preparation options that fit work and family responsibilities and offer a better chance for success.

AHIMA’s CCS coding credential is a mastery level certification for those with a thorough understanding of hospital inpatient and outpatient coding. It is considered the “gold standard” of facility coding, and distinguishes CCS credential holders as top-level coders.

Libman Education’s suite of CCS Exam Preparation courses include these:

  • The CCS Mock Exam tests one’s coding skills and provides a realistic assessment of one’s CCS exam readiness. It also offers an optional personal coaching session with an instructor which provides detailed feedback on test results and guidance for preparing for the exam.
  • The CCS Exam Review is a self-paced online course that provides a thorough review of material on the CCS exam, as well as a study plan and test-taking strategies. It includes the CCS Mock Exam.
  • The CCS Exam Prep course, which also includes the CCS Mock Exam, combines online lectures, presentations, and practice exams with weekly live instructor-led virtual class sessions to provide a thorough review of the CCS exam material.

The instructor-led training is delivered by nationally recognized CCS expert Mary Beth York, CCS, CCS-P, CIC, who has helped hundreds to achieve CCS success. Mary Beth also provides coaching for CCS Mock Exam students who opt for a personal coaching session. The CCS Exam Review was authored by Pamela J. Haney, MS, RHIA, CCS, CIC, COC, an experienced educator and an AHIMA approved ICD-10 trainer with over thirty years’ experience as a Director of HIM and Coding Services.
