Godavari Harati performed at Basar

Harati for Godavari river, the first in a series of such events to take place between the temple town of Basar in Adilabad district and Khammam, was performed at Basar on Sunday. The harati was led by Hampi peethadhipati Virupaksha Vidyaranya Swami and the founder president of Godavari Harati Utsav Samiti, P. Muralidhar Rao, among others. The event was aimed at protecting the river which was a life giver to crores of people and to highlight its importance in terms of environment and irrigation development in Telangana.
