Tiruchi hospital performs liver transplant surgery

A Tiruchi-based hospital has performed a liver transplant surgery on a Jodhpur-based businessman.

Motilal Jain (53), who was suffering from Hepatitis B Virus related last stage liver disease, was operated upon by a team that includes liver transplant surgeon G. Rajarathinam, transplant anaesthetist Rasweth Krishnamoorthy, and interventional radiologists Bavuharan, at Cethar Hospitals. Mr. Jain, who underwent the surgery two weeks ago, has been doing well post surgery.

The liver was donated by a brain-dead patient because of head injury in a road accident, and the new liver was transplanted successfully after removing the diseased one.
