S. Ramakrishnan (37), a close associate of former Union Minister M.K. Alagiri’s son Dhayanidhi Alagiri, was stabbed by two men on Saturday night at K Pudur.
Ramakrishnan escaped with injuries and the Madurai City police have arrested two persons in this regard. Police sources said that the incident occurred when Ramakrishnan had gone to a hairdresser, the one he regularly visits, in K. Pudur area. As he was coming out of the saloon, two youngsters allegedly intercepted and stabbed him with a knife.
Ramakrishnan was rushed to a private hospital in KK Nagar where he is recuperating. Police said that Ramakrishnan had stab injuries in at least five places although only one was grievous. Ramakrishnan, a financier, is a childhood friend and close aide of Dhayanidhi, sources said. Alagiri and his wife Gandhi Alagiri visited Ramakrishnan at the hospital.
The K. Pudur police have arrested P. Sahaya Pravin (30) and S. Marimuthu (31) from Pudur on Sunday. Police sources said that Sahaya Pravin was an accused in the murder case of ‘Pottu’ Suresh in 2013 and also the Dinakaran newspaper attack case in 2007. The motive for the attempt-to-murder is yet to be known.
