Two youths face criminal charges after shooting a deer in front of a residence in the RM of Headingley on Friday.

Police were called around 10 p.m. with a report of two males trespassing, hunting deer in the dark. One of the males shot the deer, and both suspects could be seen looking for the dead animal, police said.

When police arrived, both suspects attempted to flee. Police sealed off the area and arrested the two without incident.

Officers seized three firearms, a truck and the dead deer. The suspects were released to their parents, and now face charges under the criminal code and the Wildlife Act.
