AHMEDABAD: National Investigation Agency ( NIA) is likely to take up the Bharuch double murder probe next week. Sources said the ministry of home affairs may take a decision on Monday.
BJP leaders Sirish Bengali and Pragnesh Mistry were shot dead on November 2 at Panch Batti area of Bharuch.
ATS sources said close aides of Dawood Ibrahim Chota Shakeel and Javed Chikna masterminded the attacks.

Gujarat ATS and Bharuch police have arrested nine accused, including the executers and sharpshooters. “Gujarat police is hunting for Javed’s brother Abid Chikna, a UK passport holder, for aiding the killings and coordinating the operation in Bharuch,” said a senior Gujarat police official.
State government had moved a proposal to hand over the probe to NIA as the conspiracy was hatched on foreign shores and it is suspected that terror modules set up by the D-gang could be present in other parts of the country.
Bangaluru police had arrested Syed Niyamath, a suspected Chota Shakeel aide, for plotting to kill leaders affiliated to saffron organisations.
“Gujarat police is in touch with Bangaluru police to get the details,” said a senior police official.
