Karthigai Deepam: operate special trains to Tiruvannamalai, says KDRUA

The Kanyakumari District Rail Users’ Association (KDRUA) appealed to the Thiruvananthapuram division of the Southern Railway to operate special trains to Tiruvannamalai to enable thousands of devotees to visit the shrine and offer prayers on Karthigai Deepam on November 25.

The Deepam festival is celebrated for two days on November 24 and 25. The association demanded the operation of special trains originating from Thiruvananthapuram, Nagercoil and Kanyakumari.

It suggested that special trains be operated from Kanyakumari to Tiruvannamalai via Madurai, Villupuram; Thiruvananthapuram to Tiruvannamalai via Nagercoil and Madurai; Nagercoil to Chennai Central via Madurai and Tiruvannamalai; Kanyakumari to Tirupathi via Madurai and Tiruvannamalai on these two days, said a statement from P. Edward Jeni, secretary of the association.
