NEW DELHI -- For more than three decades, Swiss food giant Nestle's Maggi noodles were a favorite in India. That was before a controversy broke this year over allegations of excessive lead content. Five months after the noodles were pulled from store shelves on the orders of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), Nestle India brought them back to the market on Nov. 9.
With its once beloved noodles declared safe, Nestle India faces the arduous -- and costly -- task of buffing its tarnished brand image.
