BPMS flays Seventh Finance Commission's recommendations

KANPUR: Bharatiya Pratiraksha Mazdoor Sangh (BPMS), a body of government employees affiliated to Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), at its meeting held here on Friday has strongly criticised the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission by terming them as unjust and disappointing for Group C employees.

He stated that Group-C employees, lower division clerks, storekeepers and skilled industrial employees were quite upset with the report of the Seventh Pay Commission because they were demanding merger and upgradation of their pay scales by the Seventh Pay Commission as had been done for Group-B employees earlier.
"The salary increment recommended by the Sixth Pay Commission pay was around (40- 60%) but the Seventh Pay Commission has disappointed the employees by recommending an increment of just 32%", Singh alleged adding that grave injustice had been done to employees by stopping interim money which was paid during holidays.
He said for achieving goal of population control, the recommendation to stop family planning allowances is totally wrong, and the recommendation to stop other allowances is also an injustice to Group-C employees.
"Most of the employees in our country live in rented houses because it is not possible for everybody to own a house. The recommendation to reduce house rent allowance from 20% to 16% is totally wrong and unacceptable because the employees living in rented houses have to pay high rents", \ remarked the BPMS leader.
He said that a letter alongwith a memorandum of demands has been sent to Union fnance minister Arun Jaitely requesting him not to implement the commissions's recommendations which are unjust and not favourable to Group-C employees.
