BHAWANIPATNA: Tribals staged a demonstration at Jugsaipatna in Kalahandi district on Friday demanding judicial inquiry into the recent killing of three persons of Nisanguda and Panchkul villages by security forces during a combing operation at Karlapat Sanctury, 40 km from Bhawanipatna.
Carrying traditional weapons, they raised anti-government slogans and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits.
The agitators also demanded proper rehabilitation of the families of the deceased.
The three persons were shot dead on Sunday morning while searching for their missing goats in the forest. Two teenage boys, accompanying them, sustained serious injuries. While security forces claimed they were caught in the line of cross-fire, the villagers denied it.
Former MP (Kalahandi) Bhakta Charan Das also met the families and told the mediapersons that the Congress will gherao the collectorate on November 26 over the incident.
The district administration has provided Rs 50,000 each to the bereaved families and Rs 20,000 to the injured.
