DBA polls: Filing of nominations on Nov 23, 24

LUDHIANA: The dates for filing nominations for the December 4 elections to the Ludhiana District Bar Association have been set as November 23 and 24, said additional returning officer (ARO) for the elections, Akur Ghai, on Friday.
The date withdrawal of nominations has been fixed as November 26.
Candidates contesting for the president's post will have to deposit a security of Rs 25,000, while those contesting for the posts of vice-president and secretary will have to submit a Rs 20,000 security.The security amount for those in fray for the posts of finance secretary, joint secretary and executive member will have to pay security amounts of Rs 15,000, Rs10, 000, and Rs 3,000.
For the elections, the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana has decided to appoint one returning officer and 11 AROs.
Ghai said they were preparing the voters' list for the lection. "As far as the letter of the bar council is concerned, it was written to the RO. In it, the council had said that all applications for the right of voting that were sent on or before November 13 should be decided on merit. Some applications that were sent by some advocates directly to the bar council were also sent along with the letter; these have been decided according to the guidelines," he said.
