HYDERABAD: The craze for the glamourous world of Tollywood and its film stars doesn't seem to have touched the younger generation in the city.
The TCS Gen Z Survey 2015-16 has revealed that out of the total respondents (1,000 students from 50 schools), only four per cent follow film stars on Twitter, while 59% follow sports stars. Nearly , 52% follow other celebs on Twitter.

The survey on the internet habits of the younger generation also pointed out that 31 per cent of the respondents (class 8 to 12) respond within 30 minutes of receiving a notification on social media.
Another interesting fact t h e s u r v e y found was tha found was that girls top the Twitterati charts in the city , with 68 per cent on the microblogging site. However, overall, 83 per cent of the respondents checked into Facebook, followed by 74 per cent on Google Plus and 42 per cent on Twitter.
Meanwhile, though they are as active on online platforms as youngsters in other metro cities, youngsters here still like to meet their friends and relatives in person rather than via social me dia. They also consume news the traditional way , that is, through TV and newspapers.
And while several youngsters are hooked on to their smartphones, not all have made the electronic gadget their favourite. “It is interesting to note that desktops, home PCs and laptops are the most popular mode of accessing the internet (48 per cent).Only 33 per cent accessed internet on their smartphones,“ said V Rajanna, VP and global head, technology business unit, TCS.
