A 29-year-old car driver, Unnikrishnan of Aithiyoor near Balaramapuram, was attacked by a gang of four men late on Thursday.
According to the police, the gang had barged into Unnikrishnan’s house around 9.30 p.m. and after throwing sand into his eyes, attacked him even as his family was watching. He was thrashed with wooden planks and sustained deep injury on his back, police said. While Unnikrishnan was admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital here, the police said the attackers had been identified and that a hunt is on for them. The reasons behind the attack were not yet clear, they added.
