Hat-trick of accidents on Mohanlal movies sets
The bigger the movie, the higher the risk! Mohanlal’s latest Pulimurugan is touted to be his biggest action film yet with the team behind Baahubali brought in to supervise the stunt sequences.
The entire filming has been kept under wraps but recently a video from the shooting location showed director Vysakh barely escaping an accident on the sets. The clip showed the Seniors filmmaker giving directions to a driver while he was swerving the car in reverse.
A last second dive by the director saved him from being run over.
Incidentally, this isn’t the first time that scenes have gone horribly wrong in Mohanlal’s action films. In 2011, the actor escaped a major injury when a bike stunt went awry on the sets of Casanovva. He was shooting for a chase scene on high crates in a warehouse. The stunt involved the actor sliding the bike on an inclined plane from the top of the boxes. The manoeuvre, however, went wrong when the motorcycle skidded off the ramp, toppling him with the bike four feet below into the safety bed that was placed as a protective measure.
His 2013 Kollywood venture Jilla too had caused a scare for his fans after it literally got off to an explosive start. A box of firecrackers caught fire and burst in the middle of the shoot of the opening song. Five crew members were hurt in the accident. Currently, Mohanlal is “heavily involved” in the action scenes and still has close to three weeks of shooting left.
