ALBUQUERQUE, NM -- Rocky Mountain Stone (RMS) donated three percent from its Counters for a Cause sale to The Rock at NoonDay's Alex Fund during a special event that was held on Wednesday, November 18, 2015. Named for Alex Michael Layer (November 30, 1998 – February 2, 2004), The Alex Fund at The Rock was established to support Albuquerque's homeless and near homeless children.

"RMS's Counters for a Cause project has been involved in a national giving program for the last five years through the Artisan Group, a national buying group within the marble and granite industry," explained Scott Lardner, RMS President. "This year the Artisan Group decided to go local, and our company chose to support children in the Albuquerque area. Our entire staff was dedicated to the effort."

Last year, The Rock served over 108,000 meals while also providing other basic services. Partnerships with community organizations allow those in need to access many additional services on-site.

"Hurting children and families can sometimes be forgotten," said Danny Whatley, executive director of The Rock at NoonDay. "The Alex Fund was established to help homeless and near homeless children. We are grateful for Rocky Mountain Stone and their commitment to impacting children in a positive way."

Operating since 1982, The Rock at NoonDay serves the homeless and hungry in the Albuquerque community. The Rock is open Tuesday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, and on Sundays from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.
