US-based Chip Designer visits MIET

JAMMU, Nov 19: An expert in the field of VLSI currently Consulting Engineer at Cavius Inc., San Francisco, USA Susheel Sharma visited Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET), Jammu.
He interacted with the students and delivered a lecture on ‘Career Prospects in the Chip Design Industry’ to the students of Electronics and Communication Department of MIET.
During his lecture, Sharma guided the students on the career prospects in the field of electronic hardware engineering with special reference to chip design. He also motivated them to take on this career and establish themselves in this ever growing field. Besides this he covered, in detail, the procedure involved in the design of an IC chip which has multi-million basic gates. He also guided the faculty to go in for the software so that the students can learn the skill and translate the theory in to useful practical projects.
Earlier, Dr Ankur Gupta, Director MIET in his welcome address guided the students on the current and emerging technology in the field of electronics.
Prof SK Sharma, Director Academics advised the students to pick up the thread from the expert chip designer and try to emulate him to excel in life.
The lecture was organized and coordinated by Jamini Sharma, Head of ECE Department and Asstt Prof Surbhi Sharma.
