‘It is also important for the court to examine the allegations:’ Supreme Court

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday quashed the criminal proceedings initiated by the CBI against Prof. N.K. Ganguly, former director general of Indian Council of Medical Research under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act on alleged transfer of lands to ICPO-ICMR cooperative society.

A Bench of Justices V. Gopala Gowda and Amitav Roy allowed the appeals filed by Prof Ganguly and others against a Allahabad HC judgment refusing to quash the charges and the order taking cognizance of the offences registered against them.

The Supreme Court Bench said, “It is also important for the court to examine the allegations contained in the final report against the appellants.”
