Ever since we heard that King Khan and Kajol were reuniting onscreen for Dilwale, we have been fervently waiting for the movie. Their scorching chemistry made us cry, laugh and even sit up on our seats and hoot when Raj stretched his hand to pull in Simran into the running train in the iconic scene from DDLJ. They looked so much in love on screen and deep down we all wished we too had a love story like Raj and Simran. Surprisingly, the on screen chemistry that the two share has been conspicuously missing in real life couples. Wouldn’t it be easy for lovers to play themselves in movies? We thought so but history is replete with Box Office duds that proves just the opposite.
1. Kajol and Ajay Devgan.
She was the queen of romance and he was the dark brooding types that every thinking woman wanted to take home. They fell in love, exchanged vows and Kajol took a long sabbatical at the peak of her career. But their real-life passion wasn’t replicated on screen. Their movies Hulchul, Gundaraj, Pyar Toh Hona Hi Tha and U Me Aur Hum never managed to create an impact like Kajol-SRK starrers.
2. Saif and Kareena
The nawab and his begum or Saifeena as they are better known are quite a rage with their holidays, birthdays and family outings making it to front page of newspapers and glossies. However, their on-screen pairing hasn’t aroused fraction of the interest. The only memorable film that they did together was Kurbaan that won Kareena critical acclaim for her acting and the chemistry… well if not crackling, it was believable.
3. Salman and Katrina
They were media’s favourite couple. She played the perfect girlfriend when she went along with his family to meet him at the prison. She was spotted celebrating birthdays with his family and speculations were rife over ‘bhai’ finally settling down. The two were paired in films like Ek Tha Tiger and Yuvraaj but their lack of chemistry was pretty evident. Were we surprised when the two parted ways?
4. Ranbir and Katrina
Katrina and Ranbir create a media frenzy that many other actors don’t. And the two look so much in love in real life. Unfortunately, their real life love has failed to create any magic on screen. Ajab Prem Ki Gazab kahani wasn’t anywhere close to Ranbir and Deepika starrer Yeh Jawani hai Deewani or Bachna Ae Haseena. Obviously the Kapoor scion looked best with his exflame.
