LÉ Samuel Beckett rescues 111 refugees off Libyan coast
The LÉ Samuel Beckett rescued 111 off the coast of Libya early this morning.
At 5:39am Irish time the ship commenced a Search and Rescue operation 32 nautical miles off the Libyan coast following a tasking by the Italian Marine Rescue Co-ordination Centre (IMRCC) to investigate an inflatable rubber craft.
The rescue operation lasted three hours, and took 111 people on board.
All people embarked are receiving food, water and medical attention where required.
