THE Commander Air Force of Zimbabwe Charity Fund will tomorrow host the 2015 edition of its golf tournament at Police Golf Club in Harare. Patron of the fund, Commander of the Air Force of Zimbabwe, Perrance Shiri, will tee off at 8am to officially open the tournament and the programme will end with a prize-giving ceremony at the same venue at 6pm.

The tournament seeks to raise funds to assist less-privileged members of the society and the force has a number of charities throughout the country. The format of the game will be four-ball better ball stableford and organisers are looking forward to great support from the corporate world.

AFZ public relations officer James Chingono said they are targeting to improve rural schools, especially Murongwe in Mashonaland Central’s Dande where they have built a clinic, primary and secondary schools; and they now look forward to constructing a vocational training centre.

“The charges for this Friday’s golf tournament will be $50 per individual and $200 four a team of four and we urge individuals and corporates to donate as this will go a long way in helping the needy” Chingono said.

The event seeks to raise $50 000 and the Commander of the Defence Forces, Constantine Chiwenga, and his wife will be the guests of honour. Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce will this Saturday hold a business networking golf tournament in Chiredzi.

The tournament will be held at Triangle and Hippo Valley golf courses and this is the first time that the organisation will be holding an event of that magnitude. Perpetua Guwila, the tournament’s spokesperson, said this event is meant to connect business people in the country through sport.

“This is the first time we are going to hold this tournament and it is open to everyone who is in business. Our main objective is to connect business people through sport and by so doing they will be sharing business ideas,” she said.

Guwila also highlighted that the golf tournament is meant to build relationships between business people that will see them through in 2016. The winners are set to walk away with some prizes which she could not reveal for professional reasons.
