Indira canteens to open today

November 19, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - Dehradun:

In order to provide quality food to people at subsidised rates, the Uttarakhand government will inaugurate Indira Amma canteens at various places across the State on Thursday on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Chief Minister Harish Rawat will inaugurate these canteens named after the former prime minister at the Doon Hospital and Transport Nagar in the State capital and Pauri whereas his Cabinet colleagues will do so in other towns, Mr. Rawat’s Media in-charge Surendra Kumar said.

Enthused by the success of one such canteen set up at the busy clock tower chowk here in August this year on an experimental basis, the State government decided to extend the facility all over the State for people’s welfare, he said. - PTI
