Minister for Health and Medical Education, Chaudhary Lal Singh today paid surprise visit to Mother and Childcare Hospital (MCH) Sopore where he took a comprehensive review of the functioning of different sections of the hospital. He said the State Government plans to set up a  nursing college in Sopore to train human resource for delivering  best-possible healthcare services to the people.The Minister directed the concerned to shift the Mother and Child Care Hospital Sopore to the new hospital building and convert the old building as a nursing college. He stressed  that nursing college will provide better avenues to the students in the area and help   add on to the   trained human resource bank in the health sector.  

Ch Lal Singh directed the concerned to take immediate steps for developing necessary infrastructure for the Nursing College and in this regards directed the District Development Commissioner to formulate an action plan, so that work is carried on fast track basis. He assured that the repair of hospital building   will be carried out immediately.The Minister said that Sub-District Hospital Sopore is playing in important role in providing health care facilities to the people and assured that adequate steps will be taken to improve infrastructural and allied modern facilities in the institution.Lal Singh also interacted with the staff of the Hospital during the visit and  directed the medical and paramedical staff to work with dedication  to serve the  public  efficientlyThe Minister was accompanied by Secretary Health and Medical education, Dr. M.K. Bhandari, District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Yasha Mudgal, Chief Medical Officer Baramulla, Dr. Bashir Ahmad Chalkoo, SDM Sopore and other officials of health Department.
