Youth accused of raping minor arrested from Mangrol

RAJKOT: A youth accused of raping a minor girl was arrested on Monday from Mangrol in Junagadh district. The accused, Akash Somiya of Mangrol town, is accused of raping a 17-year-old girl in February 2014.
Last week, another accused in the case Anil Kotak was arrested and sent to jail. Police said that Akash works in a mobile shop while Anil runs a cold drinks shop in coastal town of Mangrol.
According to police, the minor girl had come into contact with Akash in Mangrol last year. They had met at a mobile phone shop where the girl had come to recharge her phone.
Police said that Akash and Anil took the girl to different places and allegedly raped her. They also filmed her in compromising position and threatened to circulate the video.
The duo was booked under various section of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO), following complaint by the girl's father.
