Antony Martial is a major injury doubt for Manchester United’s trip to Watford on Saturday after leaving Wembley on crutches last night with a foot injury.

The Manchester United forward was substituted in the 67th minute of the 2-0 defeat by England and was described by France coach, Didier Deschamps, as being in considerable discomfort after taking a blow to his foot.

“He is in quite a bit of pain,” Deschamps said of the 19-year-old striker. “I think it is a knock to the top of his foot.”

Martial was later bandaged and needed crutches to leave Wembley before returning to Manchester today.

Manchester United have already lost midfielder Michael Carrick to an ankle injury during England’s 2-0 defeat against Spain last Friday.

Carrick is out of the Watford game and is also expected to miss the Champions League tie next week against PSV Eindhoven, though his injury is not as bad as was first thought, with the holding player hoping for a comeback in early December.

Marouane Fellaini is close to a return to the United side, however, after sustaining an unspecified injury in training. Fellaini did not link up with the Belgium squad during the international break.
