MUZAFFARABAD: A comprehensive coordination between police and armed forces is vital to eliminate terrorism in the country.

This was stated by the 10 Corps Commander Lt-Gen Malik Zafar Iqbal while addressing the passing out parade of the Anti-Terrorist Police Force of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) in Patika, some 20 kilometres away from the capital of AJK.

“I am pleased to see the contingent of AJK police who are ready to meet the challenges the nation is facing,” said the Gen Iqbal, adding that the training skills displayed by the policemen were impressive.

Gen Iqbal said that besides terrorism, the country faces an enemy that wants to weaken Pakistan. It is time for our law enforcement agencies and police to cement coordination to root out terrorism from the country, he added.

AJK Inspector General of Police Malik Khuda Bakhsh Awan and General Officer Commanding 12 Division Major Gen Kaleem Asif and government secretaries also attended the passing out parade of the force. The best policemen among the 112 officers were given medals and cash prizes. Pakistan Army has trained 387 AJK policemen so far in four different batches.
