Punjab-Africa summit to begin in city on Nov 27

Close on the heels of the India-Africa Summit in the last week of October in New Delhi, Punjab's leading industry association - Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU) - will hold the Punjab-Africa Summit in International Engineering Technology & Sourcing Show (IETSS), scheduled to take place from November 27-30 at GLADA (Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority) grounds in the city.

LUDHIANA: Close on the heels of the India-Africa Summit in the last week of October in New Delhi, Punjab's leading industry association - Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU) - will hold the Punjab-Africa Summit in International Engineering Technology & Sourcing Show (IETSS), scheduled to take place from November 27-30 at GLADA (Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority) grounds in the city.

Talking to ToI, Upkar Singh Ahuja, CICU general secretary, said: "We have invited ambassadors of African countries like Zambia, Tunisia, Eritrea, Guinea, and Niger for the summit on the inaugural day. During the summit, these dignitaries will interact with industrialists, and also visit our stalls to see the high quality 'Made in Punjab' products, which are far superior to Chinese ones. We are also trying our best to double the present export of $933 million to these nations."
Informing about another highlight of the event, CICU president Avtar Singh said: "We are also conducting a buyer- seller meet, with a 20-member business delegation from the Federation of Chambers of Commerce & Industry, Sri Lanka, which will open opportunities for bilateral trade between both the countries." The expo - supported by National Small industries Corporation (NSIC) - will feature stalls put up by the MSME (medium, small and micro enterprises) industry, which will include numerous engineering products like machine and hand tools, pneumatics, robotics welding, used machinery, plywood machinery, textile machines, PET & polythene, agro machinery & implements, building construction machines & tools.
