The development has come after the arrest of underworld don Chotta Rajan, who is one of the alleged prime accused, in the killing of the journalist in broad daylight in June 2011.
The special MCOCA court on Tuesday asked the investigating agency in the murder case of journalist Jyotirmoy Dey to go through the notification issued by the Mantralaya and accordingly inform the court about the same. According to a source, the notification claims that the current investigating agency, Mumbai crime branch should hand over the papers of the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The development has come after the arrest of underworld don Chotta Rajan, who is one of the alleged prime accused, in the killing of the journalist in broad daylight in June 2011.
Advocate Sanjay Deshpande, who is appearing on behalf of a few accused in the case, while speaking to dna claimed, "We have received very basic information about the notification issued in the case, which simply has asked the current investigating agency to hand over papers of this case to the CBI. The court has asked the investigating officer to go through the notification and inform the court about it on the next date."
Meanwhile, the special public prosecutor Raja Thakare has resigned from his post.
J Dey, a veteran journalist, was shot dead by two bike-borne assailants on the afternoon of June 11, 2011, in Powai, while he was riding his bike. The police had arrested eleven accused in the case. Meanwhile, a chargesheet against the arrested accused, namely Satish Kalya, Abhijeet Shinde, Arun Dake, Sachin Gaikwad, Anil Waghmode, Nilesh Shendge, Mangesh Agawane, Vinod Asrani, Paulson Joseph and Deepak Sisodia was filed. Later, a separate chargesheet was filed against Vora in December 2011.
