GK Vasan met Jayalalithaa at Kodanad early November

TMC tries to get closer to AIADMK
Chennai: While most other state politicians were exploring the feasibility of a Bihar like ‘Mahagathbandhan’ in TN and longevity of the People’s Welfare Front (PWF) here last week, Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC) made a move to get one step closer to the AIADMK.
TMC leader G.K. Vasan is understood to have planned his Nilgiris trip during Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa’s stay in Kodanad. While grapevine has it that Jayalalithaa had indeed granted an audience to Vasan at the hill town early this month, highly placed TMC sources denied it, but more than willingly admitted that their leader is in constant touch with Jayalalithaa.
Unmindful of the criticism that he is being soft on the on on AIADMK, even to the extent that some called his party the ‘B team’ of the ruling AIADMK, Vasan kept the spin doctors busy by admiring the state government’s flood relief works.
“Vasan thalaivar is in regular touch with Jayalalithaa. Contact has also been established with Poes Garden,” a senior TMC leader requesting anonymity said.
“We need a decent representation in 2016 to be in the political mainstream in 2021, when there may be a leadership vacuum in Tamil Nadu polity. AIADMK is the safest bet because we will get a decent number in the Assembly and also have some representation in the local
bodies that will help strengthen the party,” the senior TMC leader argued.
