Members of the Bhadradri Girijana Chaitanya Mahila Samithi sought allotment of a sand reach to the society in Bhadrachalam Agency.
The representatives of the society submitted a memorandum to this effect to Collector D.S. Lokesh Kumar at the Praja Vani, the weekly grievance redressal meeting, held at the office of the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) in Bhadrachalam on Monday.
In the memorandum, the members of the society sought permission from the government to operate a sand reach in the Agency mandal for enabling them tread the path of financial self-reliance, sources said.
Sand quarry
Tribal women from Gommugudem village in Charla mandal also submitted a memorandum evincing their interest to register their society and take up sand quarrying in their mandal in compliance with the rules in force.
The ITDA authorities forwarded the memorandums to the officials of the Mines and Geology Department for their perusal.
ITDA in-charge Project Officer K. Kalicharan, Zilla Parishad CEO M. Nagesh and others were present.
