Puyol ‘The Wall’ coming

Carles Puyol

KAMPALA.
It takes passion, class and consistence to prosper as a pillar of a club the size of Barcelona and a nation the size of Spain for over 15 years.

Not so many players epitomise that combination. Carles Puyol is the equivalent of AC Milan’s Paolo Maldini; Manchester United’s Ryan Giggs; Arsenal’s Tony Adams or Real Madrid’s Iker Casillas and how lucky Ugandan football fanatics are to see Spain’s 2010 World Cup winning captain stopping the likes of David Obua, Tony Mawejje, et al, in a match between Barcelona legends and Uganda.

At Namboole December 12, fans will witness Puyol’s commanding presence in the air, composure on the ball, intense commitment and rockiness, qualities which earned him moniker “The Wall” and ranked him the best defenders of his generation.

As he did for Barcelona since for 10 years since 2004, Puyol will don the armband for the Barca legends, with whom he won numerous accolades.
