21% students from Pune division clear HSC exam
PUNE: The higher secondary certificate (HSC) supplementary exam results declared on Tuesday were disappointing as the pass percentage slipped from 26% last year to 21% this time.
The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education conducted the exam between September 29 and October 21 in nine divisions of the board including Pune, Nagpur, Aurangabad, Mumbai, Kolhapur, Amravati, Nashik, Latur and Konkan.
A total of 76,270 students appeared for the exam and 16,464 passed, the board's statement said.
The pass percentage this year was 21.59% as against 26.77% last year. Aurangabad did the best (36.25%) while Mumbai's performance (17.92%) was the worst. A total of 23 cases of exam malpractices including copying, impersonation among others were registered. The original mark lists will be available in junior colleges from 3 pm on November 20.
Applications for re-evaluation of marks will have to be submitted to the divisional board concerned between November 21 and 30. It is mandatory to attach original mark list with the application for re-evaluation. Prints of mark lists downloaded from the internet will not be considered.
Photocopies of answer sheets will be given on submission of a prescribed application form and fees, which must reach the divisional board on or before December 7. The board has also stated that students who want to reappear for the examination under the class improvement scheme in February-March 2016 should fill forms online and the last date for the same would be announced later.
