Sauber boss Monisha Kaltenborn brands Pastor Maldonado 'very, very annoying'

Sauber boss Monisha Kaltenborn has branded Pastor Maldonado "very, very annoying" after his collision with Marcus Ericsson in Brazil.

Maldonado collided with Ericsson as he tried to pass the Sauber driver on the inside of the Senna S, making contact and forcing the Swede to spin and then pit at the end of the lap. While Ericsson could only recover to 16th Maldonado managed to finish 10th (after Felipe Massa's exclusion) despite a five-second penalty for the incident.

Kaltenborn admitted the fact it was Maldonado made the incident doubly frustrating.

"Marcus' car was clearly in front of him and he literally just drives into him," Kaltenborn told Autosport."What should one say? It's not the first time he has been involved in such an incident. It's very, very annoying that it is once again him.

"Marcus was driving well, having recovered from a mistake at the start when he ran wide, and then Maldonado just dived down the inside and clipped him. It's very frustrating."

Maldonado's reputation for erratic driving is well-known in Formula One, though Brazil was only the second race this season he has received a penalty for an in-race collision. He was given a drive-through penalty and two points on his superlicence for driving into Sergio Perez during the Hungarian Grand Prix.

That penalty meant he was halfway towards a one-race ban, which happens when drivers accumulate 12 points over a 12-month period.
