NAGPUR: Atul Dahale emerged as sole leader with six points to his credit at the end of Round 6 of the second Indiana All India Fide Rating Chess tournament at the Hedgewar Smarak Samiti Hall, Reshimbagh, here on Monday.
Pune’s Dahale was followed by Srushti Pandey with 5.5 points. On the top board, Dahale, playing with Sicilian defence, downed Matta Vinay Kumar of Andhra Pradesh in 44 moves.
On the second board, local lass Srushti settled for a draw with Rajasthan’s Kantilal Dave in 75 moves.
On the third board, Sreeshwan Maralaxikari of AP and Amravati’s Pawan Dodeja split point after 15 moves. Experienced city player Sourabh Kherdekar carved out a 27-move win over Pujam Bansod.
On Tuesday, seventh round matches will begin at 10 am, while Round 8 will start at 3 pm.
