OnePlus One and OnePlus 2 will get Android Marshmallow in the first quarter of 2016

OnePlus shared the company's Android 6.0 Marshmallow update plan for its range of smartphones yesterday. It seems that OnePlus One and OnePlus 2 will get the latest operating system by the beginning of 2016, but OnePlus X owners have to wait longer.
“Although we don’t want to promise specific dates yet, we want to share some more detailed answers with you today,” wrote OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei on the OnePlus official forum.
The company revealed that OnePlus One running Cyanogen OS will receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in the first quarter of 2016. Pei also added the company will also update the community builds of OxygenOS for the OnePlus “when time allows”.
OnePlus 2 will also be updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow in Q1 2016. OnePlus has long been receiving requests to create an API for fingerprint implementation in the Oxygen OS. The new update will add the new standard Marshmallow API for the fingerprint sensor.
Furthermore, the blog post also mentions the company is “working hard to bring” the latest version of the Android operating system to the OnePlus X and the device will receive the upgrade later. The handset may get the update in the second quarter of the coming year, speculates GSM Arena.
The company, however, has yet to announce the time frame for the same. Android Marshmallow will bring with it apps permission, Doze mode, Google Now on Tap and multitasking functionalities to the upgraded devices.
In the meantime, OnePlus 2 owners started receiving the OxygenOS 2.1.2 OTA (over-the-air) update over the weekend. The company asserted the rollout will be incremental and reach all users in a staggered manner.
The Oxygen 2.1.2 upgrade will introduce performance improvements on app install; lockscreen wallpaper; fixes for RAW format on third party camera apps; an improved UX for preview in camera and Turkish and Russian language support. The update will bring in a bagful of bug fixes, including general security patches and performance improvements and bug fixes to System Update to enhance OTA stability.
