Anticipating steep rise in power bills in the wake of commissioning of 45 million gallons of water per day (MGD) from Krishna phase-III and 86 million gallons of Godavari Phase-I, Water Board officials have urged denizens to clear their water dues.

HYDERABAD: Anticipating steep rise in power bills in the wake of commissioning of 45 million gallons of water per day (MGD) from Krishna phase-III and 86 million gallons of Godavari Phase-I, Water Board officials have urged denizens to clear their water dues.
The water board has reviewed ongoing projects and also how much they have to pay for power dues with the commissioning of the two projects.

B Janardhan Reddy, MD, Water Board, said the power bills of the board may increase by Rs 25 crore in addition to the normal bills of Rs 45 crore payable to the electricity department.
Keeping this in mind, all customers have to pay their water bills promptly in order to sustain water supply from source to distribution, he said.
The MD has also asked the general managers and deputy general managers to shortlist top 100 defaulters and urge them to pay.
Regarding Krishna phase-III commissioning, Water Board MD said that laying of pipeline work was completed as per the schedule by November 15 and trial run for scouring and testing will be taken up on November 16.
Regarding Godavari drinking water project phase-I, Reddy said that the main project from Murmur, Yellampally barrage to Ghanpur at Shameerpet is under trial run. The water has reached up to water treatment plant at Mallaram.

Water Board will commission Godavari Ring main 1 project to supply water to Qutubullapur, Kukatpally, Serilingampally areas immediately by making required junction works which are in progress. In view of dead storage drawls from Manjeera/Singur reservoirs, its command areas of Lingampally, Kukatpally, Serilingampally will be supplemented with Godavari water, he said.
He decided to provide incentives to all employees for completing the work pertaining to Godavari phase-I commissioning.
