WARSAW (Sputnik) — Polish President Andrzej Duda on Monday officially appointed and swore in the new country's government headed by Prime Minister Beata Szydlo.

The swearing in ceremony of the new cabinet took place at the presidential palace in Warsaw. During the ceremony, Duda said that he hoped the new government would be stable and would work calmly and consistently.

The new government consists of members of the Law and Justice Party members, including Interior Minister Mariusz Blaszczak, Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski and Defense Minister Antoni Macierewicz.

On October 25, parliamentary elections were held in Poland. The Law and Justice Party won the elections, gaining almost 38 percent of the vote. This is the first time in Poland's modern history that a single party has won a majority in parliament sufficient to form a homogeneous government, without recourse to a coalition.
