Telangana to build 60,000 houses in 119 Assembly seats

Of the 369 houses, 11 blocks of 360 houses were constructed by the MCH in 1969

Hyderabad: The Telangana government is planning to build 60,000 houses in 119 Assembly constituencies at a cost of Rs 4,000 crore. Each constituency will have 400 double bedroom houses.

Land has already been identified in different Assembly constituencies on which the two bedroom houses will be constructed, said Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday, while inaugurating 396 double bedroom apartments at the IDH Colony which are all set to accommodate beneficiaries.

The 396 two bedroom houses are spread across 2.39 hectares and the cost per house is Rs 7.90 lakh. The houses come with title deeds for in-situ beneficiaries.

The government had accorded administrative sanction for Rs 3,654 lakh under SCSP & TSP funds for the construction of the 396 houses in a ground-plus-two pattern in 33 blocks.

This covers civic infrastructure too. The dilapidated houses at IDH Colony were inspected in June by the Chief Minister. The colony is located in Ward No. 145, Padmarao Nagar in Secunderabad.

Of the 369 houses, 11 blocks of 360 houses were constructed by the MCH in 1969. Due to poor maintenance reconstruction of four of the 11 blocks was taken up by APSHCL/GHMC under the VAMBAY scheme.

The CM had ordered the dilapidated houses to be demolished and rebuilt to house the poor with two bedrooms, hall, kitchen and toilet.
