Cape Town - Former Australian bowler Dirk Nannes has criticised his countrymen after they failed to acknowledge New Zealander Ross Taylor's 290.
Taylor fell on the fourth morning of the second Test between the Black Caps and Australia in Perth after notching the highest-ever score by a Kiwi batsman overseas.
After the players had rushed off to prepare for Australia's second innings, Nannes let rip in his commentary for ABC at what he labelled "horrendous sportsmanship" by the hosts.
"After the innings - he's made 290 - not one person from the Australian camp went and shook his hand," Nannes said.
"In the spirit of the way this game has been played... I can't help but be disappointed that no one actually went out to him and shook his hand. It's not that hard is it?
"You don't have a guy bat for a day and half out and there and just not even acknowledge it. That's horrendous sportsmanship."
According to the Stuff.co.nz website, ex-Black Cap Mark Greatbatch also weighed in on the incident, saying that such behaviour was typical of the Baggy Greens.
"That is a disgrace and that sums up the Australians," the former New Zealand opener and coach said.
At the close of day four’s play on Monday, Australia were 258 for two.
Captain Steve Smith was on 131 and Adam Voges 101 with the home side holding an overall lead of 193 runs heading into the final day.
New Zealand led by 65 runs after their first innings of 624.
