Cong behind Patel quota stir, says Anandiben

Surat: Chief minister Anandiben Patel said Congress was behind the recent Patidar agitation for reservation as it did not have any issue to rake up against the ruling BJP in the state.
Addressing over 8,000 people at Kadodara on Sunday, she said, "Congress doesn't have any issue to go to people and so it started all this. The opposition party put up banners at societies to instigate people against the BJP.
However, people know that unless you have a stable government, there can't be development. BJP has provided a stable government in the state for the last 18 years."
Addressing another meeting in Limbayat, she emphasized on development and the role of Narendra Modi as chief minister and her government's emphasis on healthcare and girl childcare in Gujarat. At least 15 people were detained when they tried to get close to the venue to protest against the chief minister. They are believed to be members of Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti.
She asked people to compare Surat of yesteryears with today. "If you compare Surat today with what it was 20 years ago you will find a massive change. People above 25 years of age are aware about this."
The chief minister said her government has initiated several steps for the good of cancer patients, girl child education and healthcare for the common people. She talked about the progress with regard to Swachh Bharat Abhiyan started on October 2, 2014 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and also on having a toilet in each house of the city. She lauded Surat for ensuring a toilet in every household and was confident that people will vote for the BJP in the local body elections, including in Surat.
Earlier soon after arriving in the city, Anandiben met party workers and discussed with them poll strategy. She also visited Jain munis at Athwalines.
