Rajkot: As many as nine people lost their lives in six separate road accidents during the last two days following Diwali.
Three people were killed and two others got injured when their car collided head-on with a state transport bus near Haripar village in Dhrol taluka of Jamnagar early morning on Saturday. The deceased were identified as Khusal Ghadiya, Vimal Ghadiya and Kevin Ghadiya and all three belonged to Manekpur village.
The two injured are recuperating at a government hospital.
According to police, five friends were on their way to Dhrol town early Saturday morning, when their vehicle collided with the bus. "Three members died on the spot due to injuries to the head," said police sub-inspector J M Chawala.
In the second incident, two youths died after a car hit their bike from behind near Gundala village of Chotila late night on Friday. The deceased, Sahil Chavda (18) and Arif Jam (19), were residents of Wankaner town.
In yet another road accident, 32-year-old Ashwin Hemubhai died on the spot after the bike that he was riding got hit from behind by an SUV.
A labourer from Madhya Pradesh, Chotelal Thakur (24) was killed after he was run over by an unknown vehicle while crossing the road near Kuwada GIDC on Thursday.
Mahesh Kukedia from Lakhapar village died after his bike slipped near Purshottam temple on the 200-feet ring road late night on Friday.
A pedestrian, who was hit by a speeding motorcycle, succumbed to injuries at a local hospital on Friday. Ramesh Mavani (51) was hit by a bike on the St Kabir road while he was taking his walk on Thursday morning.
