Kukatpally ACP held on corruption charge

He acquired assets worth Rs. 2.9 cr.

Anti-Corruption Bureau officials on Saturday arrested N. Sanjeev Rao, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) of Kukatpally in Cyberabad commissionerate, here on charge of amassing wealth illegally.

Simultaneous searches conducted by different teams of the ACB at the ACP’s residence in Alwal, his office in Kukatpally and other places in Warangal district revealed that he acquired assets worth nearly Rs. 2.9 crore which were disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Among the properties secured by the ACP were a commercial complex and house at Hasmathpet in Balanagar.

The other properties include three flats at Old Vasavi colony in Karkhana of Secunderabad, 36 acres of agricultural land at Alinagar of Mulugu in Medak district, nine acres of agricultural land at Shamirpet in Ranga Reddy district. His assets also included a farmhouse in Shamirpet and 44 acres of agricultural land at Bachannapet in Warangal.

Two cars – Maruti Swift and Honda City – gold jewellery weighing 750 grams and Rs. 3.29 lakh cash were found in his house. All the properties were worth nearly Rs. 2.9 crore. Market value of these properties was estimated to be around Rs. 13 crore, a statement from the ACB said.
