‘Sardaar’ will have to wait longer
Telugu superstar Pawan Kalyan’s ambitious project Sardaar, which seems to be kind of jinxed, is facing more trouble. The movie will not hit the screens till May 2016 as movies of other superstars, such as Mahesh Babu and Allu Arjun are scheduled in April 2016. As a consequence, the actor has decided to wait till May 2016 to release the movie.
Originally, Sardaar was scheduled to be released worldwide for Sankranti festival in January 2016. But the shooting did not take place as expected and it will be completed only by March. In the meantime, the makers of Brahmotsavam (Mahesh Babu) and Sarainodu (Allu Arjun) announced their plans to release their movies in April 2016. Both are big budget movies and are riding high on expectations. There is already a competition set up between these two movies in March 2016 and Pawan does not want to throw his hat in the ring.
“That Sardaar is jinxed from day one is known to all in Tollywood. Pawan is keen on a good run for his movie with adequate number of screens in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He doesn’t mind waiting till these two big releases are over,” a source told BM.
It is said that Pawan is happy with the movie so far. It is directed by newcomer Bobby with Kajal Agarwal playing the female lead role. The movie went on the floors in December 2013 and faced several challenges till shooting actually began. The heroine was changed thrice and Pawan’s personal problems also held up shooting. Now, the movie is being shot at a brisk pace in Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.
The postproduction work of the movie will take place in April, and the producer, Sharath Marar, Pawan’s manager, who is producing the movie under his own banner, is planning a blitzkrieg to promote it. The superstar is also keen on delivering a blockbuster which is being marketed as a sequel to Gabbar Singh (remake of Hindi movie Dabangg). Pawan himself has written the story for Sardaar and hence wants a big hit.
