Jaipur: Remove 'unimpressive' LED lights, says peeved minister
JAIPUR: Urban Development Housing (UDH) minister Rajpal Singh Shekhawat once again voiced his disapproval for the newly installed light emitting diode (LED) bulbs after seeing its illumination results.
Sources in the department said, during his inspection on Friday, the minister discussed with Manjit Singh, principal secretary, Local Self Government (LSG) Department that the luminous flux of LED lights is lesser than the sodium lights which have been replaced recently.
He fumed at Singh after listening to his reply that these LED lights are saving energy.
"The minister said the department should uninstall all the lights and put them in store, if they want to save the energy," said source. He was on inspection to take stalk of preparation before Resurgent Rajasthan Summit scheduled to be held on November 19-20.
The minister has earlier too expressed his dissatisfaction over installation of LED lights. Recently, complaints have also registered that these LED lights are not illuminating the streets and possibilities of accidents have increased.
The minister also directed the officials to erect missing poles on the median. Other than this, directions have been given to Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) and Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) to take collective measures to improve greenery in the city during the summit.
Singh inspected all the major roads and areas such as JLN Road and Tonk Road, Sanganer airport and Sitapura. The official informed, "It was also directed to repair the medians on the road."
Meanwhile, the minister announced that the long-pending Durgapura elevated road project will not be completed before Resurgent Rajasthan. The JDA decided to complete the project in October, however, minister said the construction work cannot be finished in haste. "The quality of construction cannot be compromised due to the upcoming event. The entire work shall take little more time and will get completed next month."
